Profile report of the working group of the new Chilean Government

Strengthening the Future: Strategic Investment in Chile's Defense
Faced with a world on the brink of global conflict between Russia and NATO, the AI National Defense of Chile is promoting a strategic investment of 3.5% to 5% of GDP in defense. Our mission: to optimize military resources, expand offensive capabilities, and consolidate tactical dominance in South America, ensuring superiority and deterrence in a scenario of uncertainty
1. Air Force and Air Defense
20-30 F-16V Block 70 fighters (~$80-100M per unit) → Upgrade the current fleet.
10-15 Bayraktar TB2 or MQ-9 Reaper drones (~$5-30M per unit) → Long-range surveillance and strikes.
S-400 or NASAMS air defense systems (~$1-2B) → Defense against enemy aircraft and missiles.
2. Ground Force
200-300 Leopard 2A7 or M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks (~$10-15M per unit) → Armored vehicle modernization.
Infantry fighting vehicles (ICVs) such as the CV90 or M2 Bradley (~$5-10M per unit).
HIMARS self-propelled artillery system (~$5.5M per launcher, excluding missiles).
Infantry equipment (night vision goggles, body armor, HK416 or FN SCAR assault rifles).
3. Naval Force
2-3 modern submarines (Scorpène class or Type 212) (~$600-800M per unit).
3-4 multipurpose frigates (FREMM class or Type 31) (~$600-900M per unit).
Coastal defense systems with anti-ship missiles (such as the RBS-15 or BrahMos).
4. Electronic Warfare and Cybersecurity
Electronic warfare systems and EW drones (~$1B) → Interruption of enemy communications.
Investment in cybersecurity capabilities and cyberwarfare operations (~$500-1B).
5. Satellites and Communications
Launch of spy and telecommunications satellites (~$500M-$1B).
Encrypted communications network and modern command and control systems.
6. Domestic Production
Investment in the local military industry (FAMAE, ASMAR, ENAER) to manufacture drones, munitions, and modernize vehicles.
Global Strategy
Chile could focus on improving its asymmetric capabilities with drones, missiles, and electronic warfare, rather than purchasing large fleets of expensive tanks or aircraft.
Attached March budget for defense for urgent global conflicts: 2.5% of its GDP (approx. $7.5 billion) in defense and investment can generate long-term economic and strategic benefits.
1. Job Creation in the Military and Industrial Sector
Investing in defense generates jobs in multiple sectors:
**Armed Forces** → more recruitment and specialization.
Military Industry → equipment manufacturing and maintenance.
Technology and Cybersecurity → more developers, engineers, and technicians.
Impact: More employment reduces the unemployment rate and increases domestic consumption.
2. Technology Development and Industrial Sovereignty
If resources are allocated to military research and cyber defense, Chile's own technologies can be developed.
Drones, AI applied to defense, cybersecurity software, satellites, military robots.
Impact: Chile could export military technology and improve its strategic independence.
3. Growth of the Military-Industrial Complex
Incentivize the production of weapons, military vehicles, and equipment in Chile.
Chilean companies could manufacture drones, armored vehicles, radars, and missiles instead of importing them.
Alliances with foreign companies can be created for technology transfer.
Impact: Reduces dependence on imports and creates new, high-value-added industries.
4. Increased National Security and Geopolitical Deterrence
A Chile with a strong military force can negotiate better terms in international treaties.
Protection against external threats (drug trafficking, terrorism, territorial conflicts).
Greater regional stability → Fosters the confidence of foreign investors.
Impact: Attracts investment to the country and strengthens Chile's image as a strategic partner in Latin America.
5. Innovation and Civilian Applications
Many military technologies ultimately benefit society.
Example: Internet, GPS, AI, advanced materials (Kevlar, nanotechnology).
Chile could use military developments in mining, transportation, and telecommunications.
Impact: Economic benefits for non-military industries and greater economic diversification.
6. Expansion of Military Trade and Defense Exports
Countries with strong military industries generate revenue by exporting weapons and technology.
Example: Israel, Turkey, and Brazil export aircraft, drones, and defense systems.
Chile could sell weapons to allies or develop defense technology for export.
Impact: Inflow of foreign currency and strengthening of GDP.
7. Development of Strategic Infrastructure
Investment in defense also improves roads, airports, and telecommunications that can be used in emergencies.
Example: Military bases that can be used for natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.
Impact: Benefits both security and the civilian economy.
8. Increase in Research and Development (R&D)
Incentivize universities and research centers for military innovations.
Development of **artificial intelligence applied to defense, biotechnology, and nanotechnology.
Impact: More innovation generates patents and advances applicable to other areas of the economy.
Conclusion: Growth and National Security
Strategically investing 2.5% of GDP in defense can generate employment, develop technological industries, increase exports, and strengthen national security.
Rather than being just an expense, it can be transformed into an investment with direct and indirect economic benefits.
